Principal’s Message

Dear Parents,

Thank you to those parents that provided us with feedback on school communications.

It is clear that most parents prefer the school to use telegram and email as the main source of communication. Instagram was twice as popular as Facebook with an impressive 84% reading our weekly newsletter.Classdojo is popular in Primary with 83% using it most days and 85% rating it as an effective communication tool. Overall, 61% of parents are happy with the communication, with a further 25% stating that it was a little limited and 14% unsatisfied.Suggestions for improvement include providing more posts on Classdojo and more posts of student work/events on Instagram. There were also requests for open days, platforms to connect parents, and more school events giving parents the opportunity to mingle and communicate with the school in a more informal manner. We will be acting upon much of this feedback in the coming weeks as we look to keep parents fully informed moving forward.

Our boys football finished their season with a fixture against Brookhouse Football Academy. We lost 6-0, but our boys played very well and should be proud of their achievements throughout the season.

Good luck to Amon and Shafina as our school representatives at the Chess Competition this weekend at The British School. I look forward to sharing more details of their exploits next week.

We look forward to our first MoDay on Monday where our community is invited to ‘SHOW YOUR MO’ by wearing a moustache and donating your top lip for a day. Mo’s can be drawn, stuck, painted, modelled or any other creative method to show support in ‘Changing the face of men’s health’. A few of our teachers have been growing real moustaches during the month – hopefully we will get a picture into next week’s newsletter!

Thank you to Mrs. Stiebel who took our Year 9 and 10 drama students to the lkhom Theatre on Sunday; it is so important our students our exposed to professional performances to inspire them and set the bar very high for their own work (please read the report below).

We have another event added to our calendar and what an exciting one it is. On Saturday 11th December we will be having a Swimming Festival. Parents have a received a letter regarding this and further details can be found below.

I wish you all a very relaxing weekend.

Best wishes,

Brian Platts

Principal

A group of Drama students from Years 9 and Year 10 enjoyed a performance at the Ilkhom Theatre.

Sunday November 22 a group of Drama students from Years 9 and 10 enjoyed a performance at the Ilkhom Theatre.

The show, ‘I Love You, But…’ is a documentary witness theatre performance in which everyone shared their love story. It explores love for yourself, your neighbor, your family, and country. It is an original play and was created with the support of the German Embassy in Tashkent.

The students enjoyed the performance and gave them a great deal to think about aswell as giving them inspiration for creating their own work.

Swimming Festival – December 11th

The WIST swim coaches have organized an excellent opportunity for our school community.

On Saturday 11th December, representatives of the Uzbekistan National Swim team and Synchro team will be coming to our pool. They will conduct a performance, speak about life as an international athlete and host a Q&A for audience members.

After this, students in years 3+ (who have pre-registered) will be given the opportunity to compete in a small number of races. Medals and certificates will be awarded.
