Biography

Emily is passionate about international education. She has spent the last nearly twenty years in the industry, most recently in international schools, namely Hisar School in Istanbul, Turkey, at the Fuzhou Concord College of Sino-Canada in in Fuzhou, China, at The European Azerbaijan School in Baku, Azerbaijan and now, at WIST.  She believes in a holistic approach to education which considers each student as part of a greater emotional, social, academic and ethical network within an ever-changing community.   She is particularly interested in environmental education, literature and bringing the educational experience beyond school doors.  She graduated with a BA degree in Women’s Studies and English from UNBC in British Columbia, Canada and with IB training, CELTA and TEFL, has taught a wide variety of age groups, with a focus on high school IB/DP Literature in most recent years.  She has also served as an EAL Coordinator and is committed to differentiated instruction and learning which aims to serve each student individual as well as part of a group.   Emily is pleased to be working in the peaceful and welcoming nation of Uzbekistan and is looking forward to growing and developing along with the WIST team.
