The Highwayman Poem
The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes is a romantic tale set in 18th-century rural England that explores the themes of love, loss and death through the lives of a thief and a landlord’s daughter. It is one of the most popular classic poems studied in literature by Year 5 students.
This lesson was part of a series of lessons delving deep into ‘The Highwayman’ poem. We looked at the first 3 stanzas from part 2 of the poem, and analyzed metaphor, repetition and character traits.
